Anything can be “shining”

Please note that this is my first blog post in English, so if i make any mistake, no need to scream and shout, just correct me in a comment and i will do better next time.

So, please view this trailer. I found it on youtube, it is made by Robobos and I don’t own anything about it.

You all recognised the movie, right? And provided that you are reasonably gifted with sense of humour, it made you laugh, right? Sure, it’s very funny and it’s made for fun.

If I asked you whether you have seen anything similar before, you would probably answer No. Well, this could be true only if you had never watched TV, never seen an advertising poster and never read a newspaper in your entire life.

They make us believe that a new car will provide us happiness and success, or that a certain jewel will make our sexual life a movie-like dream, or that buying our chidren a wonderful toy will make them forget about all the problems and misunderstandings in our family.

But these unfunny pranks played on our mind and wallet are not that difficult to recognise.

The issue becomes more serious when it comes to information and to personal relationships.

The same way a masterpiece of horror movie can be passed off as a nice family movie, abuses, exploitations and violences can be passed off as justice, progress and help if conveniently rejigged.

This can happen in mass medias, but also in our everyday relationships.

We make war in order to bring peace. I restrain you because I love you too much. We are exploiting poor countries’ resources in order to bring there employment. I lie to you to protect you. We make poor peoples depending on our “humanitarian” help, but that will improve their conditions. I ignore your emotional needs to teach you how to get by on your own.

I could make endless examples.

Any petty intention can shine as a noble one, basically anything can be turned into anything else.

How can we avoid to be both victims and enforcers of this wicked game? The answer is the same reason why most of you of course didn’t actually buy that The shining is a family movie: because you knew the movie before.

Therefore, always try to get more and more information about the world before you commit to a cause, and make intentions clear by an effective communication in your relationships.

  1. Howdy! This post could not be written any better!
Reading this post reminds me of my old room mate!
He always kept talking about this. I will forward this write-up to him.
Fairly certain he will have a good read. Many thanks for sharing!
